Abstract

John of Damascus’ work offers an image of Islam suitable to a time of change; a time in which the consideration of the Christians who live under the authority of the Umayyad Caliphs begins to change. Likewise, it is the affirmation of certain group of Christians, the Melkites, in order to not be absorbed by the islamization process, which was in its beginnings.
