Abstract

This paper stresses the need to create a socially appropriate technology for solving the housing problem of the poorest sector in the developing countries. It states that the actions must be centered upon the people in need, rather in the rentability and productivity of the system. People should have the opportunity to participate in the process so as to contribute to its development and carrying it out. Social growth is not only motivated by material interest but cultural and spiritual aspects are essential. This paper proposes the rationalization of the development process and the selection of applied techniques within the normal productive systems as well as the creation of constructive systems and new materials capable of absorbing resources and non conventional inputs.
