Abstract

This article inquires into the participation of women in the armed struggle against the dictatorship. All this, based on the presence of militant women linked to MIR and FPMR who appear in the press, specifically, in the newspaper La Tercera de la hora between 1978 and 1989, showing the way in which they are presented to the public opinion. We establish that in more than 200 pieces of news, women appeared related to different types of propaganda actions being either operative or logistical which in accordance to the bias of the main source, they were contrasted with primary and secondary data sources, court decisions and opposition press to confirm the women’s militant condition and the circumstances of their arrest or death.
